Welcome to 6th grade Social Studies!!!
This year we are going to be learning about a variety of different topics. Some of those topics
include geography, cultures of the Americas (both past and present), and the French and Indian War. We will also be studying Canada, Latin America, local history, and Pennsylvania history.

Geographic Regions of Canada
We have studied the 6 geographic regions of Canada and discussed what each region is like. If you could travel to any of the six regions which one would you travel to and why?
I would want to travel to the St. Lawrence Lowlands because it has the nice weather and I could go during the spring or fall when the weather would be really nice and to hot or cold. I would really like to go and see Niagra Falls and the Hockey Hall of Fame again, as well as, all of the other fun things there are to see in that area.
Leigh K. says: If I could choose a geographic region, I would choose the Arctic. I would go when the fishing and hunting season is. I would go during that time period because that's usually when the Inuits use their igloos. I've wanted to understand what it is like to live in an igloo since I was in Kindergarden. I've gone fishing before, but I've never fished to be able to eat dinner-only for fun. another reason I would go is because I love the colder climates. If I had the opportunity to go, I would go with my little brother. ( He is the fishing and hunting kind of person!)

I would like to travel to the St. Lawrence lowlands too! I would like to visit because of course the weather is fairly nice like our weather in Pa. Another reason I want to go there is, I've never seen Niagra Falls before and my Dad has told me a lot about them.I would love to know more about them! -Shelby L.
I would like to go to the Atlantic regions because there are beautiful sandy beaches and I love to go to the beach. Maybe I'll go there when I'm out of highschool.
I would like to go to the Yukon Territory and pan for gold and hunt for caribu and moose. I would also like to see the capital Whitehorse. I would like to climb Mt. Logan it is 19,551 ft. high and is the higest point in all of Canada. I like to fish so I would fish in Marsh Lake.
I would like to go to St. Lawrence Lowlands because I would like to go to Niagra Falls. I also like to feel the warm weather. I would also like to see the Hockey Hall of Fame. I would not like to have cold weather because I wouldn't have to struggle about warmth. Mason Roth

By: Brooke B. If I could go to a geographic region in Canada, I would pick the Atlantic Regions. There are nice, sandy beaches and a warm climate. That sounds like the place for me! If I did get a chance to go, I would probably go in the spring so it wouldn't be too hot or cold.
I would like to go to the St.Lawrence lowlands because it is near a river so you can probably go on rafting trip. It has always been my dream to go on a rafting trip.

Neal K. I would like to go to the Yukon Territory. I would like to go there because I would like to climb the mountains and explore the forests. I would also like the Yukon because I like to hunt and fish. I hope to go to the Yukon after Collage. I just hope it isn't to cold.
I would like to go to The Cordillera region of Canada to visit the Vancouver Island's because the west coast receives quite alot of rain, giving it a rain forest climate. Although it does not have have the aniamals a rain forest has but the island's west coast does have the oldest and tallest trees in Canada(Western Red Cedars that are 1,300 years old and Douglas Firs that are over 90 metres high). That is why I would like to visit the Cordillera region of Canada.

I would love to go to the St. Lawrence Lowlands. There they have beautiful weather! Also Niagra Falls is there and I would love to visit there agian. I would go in the Fall, and Spring because well, Spring is my favorite season anyway, but it wouldn't be too cold or too hot if I go during that time. ~Mary N.

Ashley S.: I would like to live in the St. Lawrence Lowlands. I would like to live there because it has nice weather there and Niagra Falls is there. I would like to live in a place where there are a decent amount of people (like the St. Lawrence Lowrence Lowlands). Another reason I would like to live there is because it has a lot of natural resources.
I would want to travel to the Artic because I like wearing coats in the winter and being all warm. Some things that I would love to do there would be ice fishing and join in sled dog races or just for fun.
Damian B. I would like to visit the St. Lawrence Lowlands because I would like to go to hockey games. While my stay at St. Lawrence Lowlands I would probably visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. I would like to go to Ontario to watch Toronto play hockey. While I am near the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence I would probably go fishing. If I would have the chance I would visit some attractions like muesums and historical marks.
If I could choose one of the geographic regions I would go to the Canadian Shield because it would be interesting to go and study the rocks that are 3.5 billion years old.I would want to go when it is nice and warm because then it would be something similar to Spring. But what I think would be nice to see is the old mines with many different types of minerals such as zinc,copper and so much more. Kassy H.
I would want to live in the south by Alberta. The weather is cold but there is a lot of things to visit. Some of the things that I would do there is enjoy the warm weather and visit the Great Lakes and The St. Lawerence River.
From Sabryn G.: I would LOVE to visit the Canadian Shield because it would be interesting to see and learn about the 5 billion year old rock and learn more about how they were formed. I would like to visit this place as a vacation spot as an adult.:-)
If i would have to pick a reigon i would pick the st. larwence lowlands because i always wanted to go to Niagra Falls. i also like to watch hockey games with my family. the weather is very good up there Cole H.
I would like to go to the st. larwence lowlands. I would like to see Niagra Falls. I think seeing the falls would be an amazing sight to see. You would proably get splashed by the water coming down. That's what i think!!!!

I would go to the St.Lawrence lowlands. I would go there because it is a warm climate and I would want to see all the people and businesses that are there.
I would like to go to Regina,Saskatchawan. I would like to go to Regina,Sascatchawan because i would like to see an art show and maybe walk in the park.

I would like to visit the artic, because it is like winter there everyday.And plus you would get to go ice fishing,skiing,sleding,and stuff like that and that would be awsome.
Kayla Se. I would like to visit the St.Larence Lowlands. I would like to visit the St.Lawrence Lowlands because Niagra Falls is there. It would be cool to see all the water that is in the falls.
Taylor Smith: I would be interested in going to the Atlantic region. I would like to go to the Atlantic region because it has beautiful beaches! It would be fun to be able to go to the beach every day. When I would be at the beach I would be digging my feet in the sand to feel it inbetween my toes and I would try to get all my family and friends to come into the ocean with me. After I am finished at the beach I would go to a pool and hang out there for a little to rest!
-Kolby M. I would like to go to the St. Lawrence Lowlands and see Niagra falls,I have also heard that Niagra Falls has the most volume of water rushing over it's edge. The St. Lawrence lowlands also has a nice warm climate that would be nice to enjoy site seeing and other attractions.
I would lide to travel to the Saint Lawrence Lowlands and go and see some Toronto Maple Leafs games and see the Hockey Hall of Fame as well. It would also be fun because I love to learn about history and the St.Lawrence Lowlands is full of great history!
I would want to go to St.Lawrance Lowlands. I would want to go there because my family is from up there. Also I love hockey so I would want to see the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadians. Caroline B. I would want to go to the Atlantic region because this is where the Vikings first landed in Newfounland. I think it is interesting that artifacts were found here.
I would like to visit Niagra Falls. I play ice hockey so I would love to see the Vancouver Kanucks play the Flyers. And my dad use to go to Canada all the time with his family when he was young. He talks alot about the mosquitos (they are huge).
I would like to go to the Atlantic region of Canada because I would LOVE to visit Nova Scotia. I would like to go there because the temperature only gets up to 75 degrees F in July. That is perfest weather for me! Also, there are a lot of historic attractions there. I think it would be interesting to go on an historic tour. -Kylie J
I would love to travel to the Canadian Shield. The wildlife, the plants, and the amazing waterfalls! It would also be a very good exercise for your body walking up and down the landforms. By, Michael Kachel
I am from Bensalem, Pennsylvania. Bensalem
is located right outside of Philadelphia. I am from a large family in which I am the oldest of
5 children. I graduated from Bensalem High School in 1998, and then went on to college. I attended
Kutztown University and earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I graduated from Kutztown
in 2002 where I also played field hockey for four years. After I graduated, I was a day-to-day and
long-term substitute in different districts in Bucks and Montogomery County. I am currently pursuing my
Master's Degree in Classrrom Technology from Wilkes University.
My husband, Brian, and I live in Douglassville, Pennsylvania. We have an adorable son, Zachary, who we enjoy playing and spending time with. We also love to travel and spend time with our family and friends.
This is my third year teaching at Hamburg Middle School and I am very excited to be here!!
